As someone who has spent 10 years in this industry, I am consistently forced to shake my head when passports are not accepted as valid forms of identification.

To be absolutely clear—I have worked as an executive in multiple states. This is not a legal gray area.

Passports are legal, government-issued identification in every single state nationwide. This falls squarely under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act (CRTA).

I expect an executive or company owner to contact me immediately. I will be following up regularly on this matter with the appropriate governing entities.

Your actions are in direct violation of state law and, quite frankly, the policy is disproportionately racist—whether you recognize that or not. The purpose of these regulations is to prevent access by individuals under 21. That is the ordinance. Follow it, or shut the business down.

It is unprofessional to be unfamiliar with the laws governing your own operation, and even more unprofessional to rely on customers to educate your staff on those laws.

I will not be shopping here again. This is poor practice and an absolutely indefensible policy.
